A Must Read for Fans of Yelena and Valek!
Yelena and Valek are back! I first fell in love with these two over eight years ago. With each book since Poison Study, I have fallen in love with them more and more. I love how each book feels like first one. Every time I jump into reading one of Maria's newest releases featuring Yelena and Valek, it's like coming home. Reading their stories, and getting to jump right back into the world of these characters is like reuniting with family and old friends. The story of Yelena and Valek has progressed so beautifully! There's so much to their story that I want to say, but I'll keep this spoiler free. Let me just say that long time fans of Yelena and Valek will love the newest revelations, and developments between this all time favorite literally couple. It's so hard not to swoon with the way these two are when they are around each other. I love seeing that tender side of Valek, a highly feared assign, when he's with Yelena. Getting the story from his point of view of fabulous. I love how protective of her he is, while at the same time he respects the missions she has to go on. Despite his wanting to lock Yelena in a tower to keep her safe, I love how he has always allowed her to be her own person, and has supported her in her quests.Yelena has always been, and will always be one of my favorite heroines. I have always admired her strength, her intelligence, and her duty. She is the perfect match for Valek. The love, respect, and desires they have for each other are perfectly written. *sigh* One of the things I've always loved about this series, and the books that center o the world of Sitia and Ixia, are the relationships. Two of my favorite characters (aside from Yelena and Valek) are Janco and Ari. Not only do they bring the humor to the right parts of the story, I have long admired their loyalty to Valek, as well as Yelena. They are the characters who long ago started out more like side kicks, and quickly morphed from being secondary characters to main characters. I love these two.The best thing about Night Study, aside from the magic, romance, and action packed scenes, is this book is written from four points of views! The story is told from Valek, Yelena, Janco and Lief's points of views and it is AWESOME! Maria is one of the few authors who can write a book from multiple points of views and do so effortlessly. I loved getting to know Lief more. He continues to surprise me.Night Study is a fantastic addition to a continued series I can't get enough of. I love the complexity of the plot line, the continued storyline of many of the characters fans have previously met, and the shocking twists and secrets that are revealed. There's a lot that happens in this book. I loved that the depth of some of the relationships really makes the betrayal and shocking discoveries that much worse. I definitely was not excepting some of the plot twists to go in the direction they did, and I love that Maria still has that element of surprise. This book is the perfect continuation of the previous book in this series, and the series before it. If you haven't picked up those books, I highly recommend that you do!

This is not my favorite book in the series
This is not my favorite book in the series, but I love the series so much I'm committed! Yelena and Valik are one of my favorite literary couples--there's not all the drama involved. They really do love and respect each other. I've finished the series and I feel like this could have been a couplet, not a trio. There's a lot of redundancy in what happens to the characters, but the story is still great!

Great Book
This was a great book, I love how she does different perspectives by each character on different chapters. Can't wait to reread it in the series.

Wonderful series
If you want to read a series that keeps you up reading all night and you can't wait until the next book comes out, then this is the series for you. What a great story. A marvelous fantasy of wonderful characters in which the Author has done an outstanding job in developing throughout her books.

Maria Snyder once again has written an amazing tale of the continuance of Yelena and Valek
Maria Snyder once again has written an amazing tale of the continuance of Yelena and Valek. If you love adventure, magic, love, then this book (series) is the one for you.The only flaw in this series is the sense of rush I get when something drastic happens to a side character, but I have not been led through the pages to love this character again.

Slow but steady.
The upside to this installment of the beloved Study Series is that Yelena and Valek actually spend some page time together! This allows the reader to re-connect with the reason we so loved the series to begin with. The storyline, itself, plods along at a slow but steady rate until the very end, when things do pick up a bit. Nothing overly exciting but enough to anxiously await the final episode!

Improved towards the end
A great deal was happening in this second book of the new trilogy. However, most of the book Yelena and Valek had their own storylines, which was disappointing, the first half was a bit slow and some of the action seemed somewhat unnecessary. But the pace picked up towards the end and there are also huge changes in their lives that will make things interesting for them in the book to come.

Yelena is off again...
I love All of the Ixia/Sitia novels and own most in both paperback and kindle (excessive I know!). The latest chapter in the adventures of Yelena and Valek continue the search for Yelena's lost powers and feature all of the characters we know and love such as Janco, Ari, Irys as well as some newer and completely new characters who I'm excited to get to know. The books have enough of the first three to feel like comfortable old friends but new plots and twists to really keep things interesting. The book is fast paced and for me it was a total page turner. I had finished it within 2 days of it's release and now I am wishing I had savoured it a little more as I don't want to think about how long I might have to wait for the next one!

Entertaining
Over the last weeks I have devoured The Chronicles of Isis and they have kept me thoroughly entertained. I have enjoyed each story and !oved all the characters. Gutted to have finished book 8 and hope it doesn't take long for the next one to come out.

So what happens next then !
Oh the delight and the despair of finding a new author and a new set of totally engaging characters. The delight, a whole new detailed world with a complex plot full of twist turns delightful surprises and chapter closing cliff hangers. I have been very much enjoying this trip with the prospect of more in each successive book.. The despair, well that is due to the basic truth, it is quicker to read a book than to write one..so having sped through to book 8 here I wait on that cliff hanger for the writing to catch up to my voracious reading.

Each characters individual chapter still fits nicely with the others and the main plot
Bam! And we’re back in the world of Ixia and Sitia, right where Shadow Study left off but who could forget that ending?! We’re still trying to figure out Yelenas magic and what on earth is going on with the Commander. Mystery after mystery there’s never a slow moment in this book, even when the characters separate from each other and each go on their own separate quests you’re right there with them. Having no idea how some of them will end. Each characters individual chapter still fits nicely with the others and the main plot, even when you can’t possibly see how. And the mini cliff-hangers at the end of the chapters just about kill you every time. It’s lovely to see Yelena and Valeks relationship flourish and grow, we even get to find out more about Valek’s past in this. I will always want to see more of them together -they’re just so god damn cute- and plot twist Yelena even listens at times! I loved the new areas of each of the characters we explored as they tried to overcome the *spolier* they faced in this book.Lots of information about the past books was given to you, so it’s easy just to pick it up. Although if you have just finished the previous books it can spoon feed you the information a tad.To summarise its a very good book and I cannot wait a whole year for the next one, and to see more from the new characters.100% worth a read!

Gripping fantasy in a magical world
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, picking up from where shadow study left off. This continues with the journey of all my very loved characters, Yelena and Valek are my favourite pairing in all of Maria's books. I'm glad I took a chance on reading these, I only wish I never had to put my book down.
