Good, but not for water
Bought this specifficaly for my father, who suffered a stroke and could no longer drink plain water. It was reccomened by our physical theripist to purchase Thicken Up--I think she was confused with Thickn'Easy--because when i brought this product back, she told me that it's not for use in water...it's more so for soups, smoothies, and food-based products. It does work, we where able to thicken up a few broth-based soups. With that said, we did try it in water--it created a very chalky flavor and a weird tetxture. We will stil continue to use the product, but i think after this we'll just buy Thickn'Easy or ThickIt products.Minus One (1) star - For arriving without a cap.Minus One (1) star - Not for water*I rely on amazon for reviews of nearly everything before I buy. Barely noticeable and makes the hugest difference!
Water is surprisingly one of the most difficult things to swallow when you have even mild dysphasia (swallowing problem), and Thicken Up is just great. I don't like the products that thicken so much that it's like drinking jello. Now that I've figured out my ideal proportions, I add the product to a dry wider-mouthed bottle, add about 2-3 inches of water, cover and shake to dissolve it, then fill my bottle and shake again. It stops thickening a minute or two later, and I can sip my water all day without having to think about it! It's just as good refrigerated as at room temperature, and apparently can also be used in hot beverages, which I don't drink (so don't know).

Love it! Minimal texture and no taste!
I had surgery over 3 months ago and had to retrain my throat how to swallow while protecting my airway. Thin liquids are the hardest for me to get down without coughing. I tried another thickener but it didn't dissolve in water so it was gritty and it also had a weird taste to it when added to water. I tried this based on someone's recommendation. I love it! It dissolves so it doesn't feel gritty when you drink it. I also don't notice a taste to it when I just add it to water. I think I use a bit less than the directions say for nectar thick but it still works. So happy to have this so I can safely quench my thirst with water during this hot summer!

Economical and blends well
I bought this for my mom who has trouble swallowing liquids. A small amount of the powder thickens liquids nicely. Of course, how much you use depends on how thick you need it, but I found that this product requires the use of less powder compared to others, and it blends really well. I've tried other powders and this is the one my mom prefers. It doesn't clump up and leave residue at bottom. I find that it's best to stir at the same time that you're adding the powder to the liquid for best results. Add if you stir a little longer, it thickens more. Because less powder is needed to thicken, I find it more economical than other brands that have more in the container but wind up finishing much faster than the Thicken UP. I recommend this product.

Best I've Found so Far
When swallowing problems enter your life, there are few great accommodations around. The thickening powder served up at the hospital is awful. It's gritty and changes the texture of the liquid so much, my husband would rather die o thirst than drink it. Thicken Up is vastly superior to Thick It. That said, it's not perfect. No matter how much I wisk a little liquid with the product to try to get it completely dissolved, that never quite happens. Every drink ends up with a gummy residue at the bottom of the glass, which wastes whatever you're trying to palatably thicken. At lease it's not gritty and my husband will drink it. I'm just so glad to have something that he'll use at all.

Packing/shipping issues with this item
Great item for dysphasia, I use it for my son who aspirates thin liquids and often order from Amazon since it’s the only place I can find it.. but if it is packed with something heavy - it can burst open en route, and powdery/sticky contents are everywhere and leaking out of the box. I’ve had this happen 3 separate times now..

Hello diarrhea
I bought this product for an adult who had swallowing problems from a stroke. It doesn't leave the gritty texture that Thick It, used in hospitals and nursing homes, does, but it does cause intestinal problems. I didn't realize that our problem was due to this product until one of our aides told me that she had used it for a family member who had the same results. I switched to Simply Thick gel and my family member's digestive issues are gone. I would use this if I run out of the gel, but not every day as I had been.

Best Thickener on Market
The only thickener I use for my son who aspirates thin liquids. Highly recommended over any other brand. Thickens to desired consistency and can sit without over thickening.
