1D is even better this time around!!!
As a die-hard Directioner, I've been anxiously awaiting the new album. As soon as it was available for preorder, I preordered the deluxe edition, knowing that the 4 bonus tracks would be worth the extra price. The free mp3 version was delivered to my phone on the release day and I quickly downloaded it and gave it a listen. Wow! While I love the pop songs of the past two albums, with "Midnight Memories," One Direction have managed to convey a more mature, edgier sound, advancing past the expected pop tunes to a more rock n'roll sound. 17 of the 18 songs were written by one or more members of the band, which always adds a personal touch,I feel. As I lstened to the album, I fell more in love with it with each passing song. I love every song on the 18 track album, something that has never happened before except with 1D. It is my opinon that One Direction, thanks to their natural talent, charisma, good looks, and dedicated fans, will far outlive the boybands of the past, and will change the face of the boybands and pop music in one fell swoop. Well done, lads! Can't wait for another album in 2014.

THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm an older DIrectioner and just want it say that this album is their best yet. These young men definitely did not disappoint with this new album, and with the deluxe version it's even better. ALL the songs on this album are magnificent and I love the new direction they are exploring musically. Midnight Memories does not sound like your typical boy band music because it is more mature and just plain awesome, but then again One Direction are not your average boy band. They are so much more and breaking down those old stereotypes. I'm so proud of their song writing and how much effort they put into this new album. Even with their busy schedules it's great to see they are not just trying to please everyone but instead really caring about what music they make for the many fans of all ages. I really love this group and hope to see them continue to grow and mature personally and musically. They deserve all their success and I hope to see them perform these songs on the upcoming Where We Are tour in 2014.

Midnight Memories Scores Big with Multiple Generations!
Love, love, LOVE this album! We have no teenaged girls in our circle, but didn't let that stop us from giving 1D a try. This 51 year old grandma absolutely loves the throwback to the 80's sound of the title track, Midnight Memories! Multiple tracks are adored by my 5 year old grandson who greets me every day after kindergarten with, 'AND WE DANCED ALL NIGHT TO THE BEST SONG EVER!!' . My 19 year old son has even taken a listen and wonders how this little girls boyband has managed to evolve to this in such a short time. Looking forward to what the next couple years bring. Now, when do those world tour concert tickets go on sale? SOLD!

Midnight Memories
First I would like to say I love One Direction and I have bought their two previous CD's as well as this one. The first two were good, but this one by far is the best. They have a more mature sound in this CD and the guys themselves wrote a few of the songs too. I have actually bought 2 of this CD, one for me and one for my cousin who is also a big fan of them and she was very happy when she got it at our family Christmas. So all in all, if you like or love One Direction you should definitely buy this.

Singin, singin, singin midnight memories.
I will admit, I was kind of worried about this album at first because of all the people who were talking about what a "big change" it was from their previous releases, but I listened to it and found out I was worried for nothing. On this album, they have probably their very first song that's not about girls (not that singing about girls is a bad thing!), Don't Forget Where You Belong. You can tell that it meant a lot to them. It would be a shame if it didn't become a single then, because I'm sure they really love it. However, knowing 1D, they follow the 1st-3-songs-on-the-tracklist-becoming-singles method, so the next single will probably be Diana. Diana is the 3rd song on the tracklist (next to Best Song Ever and Story Of My Life, which I assume most of you already know by now) and many fans speculate it's about suicidal fans. However, when asked about that at a concert, they were basically like "what the heck?" and deconfirmed that rumor. I can understand why some people think that though, because of lines like "let me be the one to save your life, I don't think you even realize, baby you'd be saving mine".I must say, people who think this album is more "mature" haven't been listening to the lyrics clearly enough. On the bonus track "Alive", for example, it basically says, hey, it's okay if you sleep with girls, whether you're in a relationship or not, as long as it makes you feel alive. "Can you find out what is wrong with me? / I don't know why I wanna be with every girl I see... Tell me just what I should do. / She said, hey, it's alright, if it makes you feel alive." On the regular edition, the equally immature "Happily" and "Little White Lies" are available. The lyrics to "Happily", for example, say "I wonder if he knows that I touched your skin. And if he feels my traces in your hair, sorry love, but I don't really care." Now, I love both "Alive" and "Happily", but I can still admit that lyrically, they're not that mature. Sex mature, yes, but there's a lot of implications of cheating and such throughout the album. But that's okay. I have nothing against immature lyrics for the most part. I think they're funny. While we're on the topic of sex mature, I must say, if you think this is an album for little kids, it's definitely not. I know that in the previous album, lines like "tonight let's get some" went over parents's heads, but I don't know how it's possible to ignore lines like "I wonder if he knows that I touched your skin" or "Big -a word- party with a crowded kitchen. People talk -s word- but we don't listen." Okay, he doesn't completely say the s word technically, just the first 2 letters. But still.I must disagree with the people who said there are no fun, easy-to-dance-to songs on this album. There definitely are. "Little Black Dress" immediately comes to mind, as well as "Alive" (especially during the "live before we get older" breakdown). Then there's the title track, "Midnight Memories". I dare you to not giggle or rock out when Harry does the "owww" part. As I said in the previous paragraph, a lot of these songs have very questionable lyrics, but "Little White Lies" takes the cake. Let's just say that if you didn't like "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke because of the lyrics, you probably won't like "Little White Lies" either. If you're able to ignore the lyrics though, LWL is a VERY fun song to dance to. And of course, the lead single "Best Song Ever" is a VERY easy-to-dance-to song. I still dance to it whenever it comes on, even though it's been out forever now. Then of course they also have their usual ballads. "Half A Heart" is my favorite. The beginning of the chorus (where Zayn sings "like I'm waking up to only half a blue sky") sounds kind of similar to "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5. Other ballads include "You & I" and "Through The Dark".The most clever song on the album is "Better Than Words", the last song on the regular edition. The lyrics are made completely up of song titles, minus the chorus. All in all, I think this is a really great album. The lyrics are more mature in the sense that they incorporate sex, but in all other aspects, they're not really that mature. That's okay though. I like the album despite that. Just be warned in case you're thinking of buying this for someone under 13.As for whether or not you'll like this if you liked their previous 2 releases, it's debatable. I like it. I may not like it AS MUCH, but I still think it's very much them and they haven't changed too too much. If you're worried though and don't think you can take anything too too different from their original 2 albums, I'd suggest just downloading: Best Song Ever, Half A Heart, Diana, Story Of My Life, and MAYYYBEEE Little White Lies.
